UNLOCK THE CITY! reading the landscape

2026

What are the geographical and human confines that currently define our urban lives? Through what possibilities and circumstances can performative art, together with scientific research, serve as a tool for rethinking the urban landscape and its rules? And under what conditions can municipal theaters enter the public space as participatory subjects?

Those were the basic premises of the international project UNLOCK THE CITY!, which spent three years mapping selected locations in several countries through interdisciplinary research. In January 2026, a final panel conference was held in Milan, attended by all participating partners. The program included a practical workshop entitled Experience: the Dramaturgy of Space for students of the Politecnico University and La Scuola di Teatro Luca Ronconi.
